Choosing a title for this piece took longer than writing the text itself. I wanted to select a title that would convey the content's essence and be engaging to share this authentic experience with anyone possible.

One of my previous writings about choosing a mentor has much to do with an event that happened today because both that writing and this event are based on my personal experiences. It all started when, as someone who began my career, I faced limitations in accessing knowledge because much of the material relevant to my work was unavailable in Persian. My English language proficiency was not specialized in that area.

The Crucial Choice

Now, with limitations in place, instead of acknowledging the circumstances and resource constraints, I turned to myself to exert all my efforts and overcome my limitations. That meant strengthening my English language skills and utilizing English resources.

Mentors are here

Given my lifelong interest in learning, choosing a role model and striving to find a suitable one was one of the most important tasks I learned from the beginning, although I didn't always choose the best role models. Nevertheless, I understood that I needed to do this to succeed in the method I had selected for learning. When I started searching for a role model to increase my knowledge in my field, the easiest thing to do was to search on Google. After reading various materials, I selected the best individuals as role models and began learning more from them. I also watched multiple videos on YouTube related to my field.

Dr. James

In one of these videos, I saw someone speaking with a unique enthusiasm and excitement, delving much deeper into the subject than I had thought possible. He had truly grasped the essence of the test and provided reasons for doing so, which were fresh to many of the listeners directly. Feeling a strong connection to his personality and words, I chose him as a mentor in this field, and from that day on, my learning began in a structured manner.

What Do I Do with Limitations?!

The absence of Persian resources versus the inability to access English resources is a minor limitation. When you can't purchase the necessary books from Amazon, and buying them through an intermediary costs several times more, sometimes these moments in our professional lives lead to despair. "So how can I learn to do my job better?!" I desperately asked myself.

We don't have copyright laws, and purchasing eBooks from Amazon is possible, but these limitations can lead to our despair. Despair doesn't stop us from acting but instead leads us to find new ways and discover new aspects of ourselves in finding these ways.

Light Shines in the Darkness

Among all these limitations and differences, which exist for various reasons, our human connections are the only things that are not limited. If a company like Amazon or any other company, for any reason justifiable or not, cannot provide us with a service, those justifiable or unjustifiable reasons cannot hinder our human connections with people in other cities and countries.

What helped me a lot in this regard to reach my desires (to some extent, not all of them) was familiarity with the English language and establishing connections with foreign experts. Today, when Dr. James posted a book on his Twitter account, I replied that we have limitations and cannot purchase the book. He messaged me and asked for my email address so I could send him a PDF copy of their latest book.

Enjoying a Successful Connection

With the condition that I don't share the book anywhere or with anyone, he sent me a personal PDF copy of their latest book. A book priced at about $20 in print and $12 in Kindle edition on Amazon: I promised to remain loyal to him for his kindness and request, and he replied that many Iranian friends were glad they could help me in their way (which is a huge help).
